CATIA Projects

What is Catia?
It is a computer-aided 3D design software. After the introduction of CATIA in 1977 by french manufacturer Avions Marcel Dassault engineers from various fields get an excellent tool for working with complex innovative shapes.

Steps involved while building any CATIA Project:
  1. CATIA Product Definition
  2. Create a Machine Plan
  3. Creating a Process Document inside CATIA
  4. Part Operation Set-up
  5. Tool Selection
  6. Machine Operation/Simulation
  7. Verification
  8. Post Processing
  9. Export to CNC mill
In this post, we will see some amazing designs build using this software.

Relaxing beach Chair Design: Design a chair capable of holding a person of 300 lbs and then conduct a finite element analysis to verify/prove that the chair is safe under such a load.

Hovell V4 Engine: The cylinders and pistons are aligned, in two separate planes or 'banks', so that they appear to be in a "V" when viewed along the axis of the crankshaft. A V4 engine is a V form engine with four cylinders and three main bearings.

Assembly Project: It is a direct application of your solid modeling knowledge and skill to a very practical
problem to develop an assembly model of a device.

Model a pump in Catia, rapid-prototype it, and pump water with it.

CAE Students use Catia to model and rapidly prototype an RC Robot. See it in action!
